Mitsubishi i-MiEV Gets a Cost Cut Overseas

If you are familiar with the Mitsubishi i-MiEV, you would know it's a very eco-friendly yet, economical way to travel the roads of Glendale, CA. Well now, Mitsubishi is chipping in to help drivers in Japan purchase one by cutting the price of the vehicle by a whopping $9,100.

The i-MiEV model was released for sale in 2009. Even though it was a very exciting and innovative offering, there's been a struggle to get drivers to adopt the green car. This is partially due to the lack of charging stations around the area. The other reason is that people tend to think they are expensive. Even though there is a premium when purchasing the vehicle, many have to remember that they won't need to purchase gasoline and therefore will make up the cost over time then saving them money in the long run.

So, back to the discount. Japanese drivers will receive a discount of roughly 25%. This will decrease the price to around 2.9 million yen, which is near $29,000. However, there's the incentives from the government as well, allowing the price to further decrease to close to 2 million yen.

We here at Glendale Mitsubishi  are pretty certain that these are major discounts will help boost the sales of the i-MiEV but our hopes would be if there are more electric cars on the road, the area would naturally increase the charging stations. We'll have to wait and see how this plays out before we can expect any discounts like that here in the U.S., so our fingers are crossed for all of our loyal new Mitsubishi enthusiasts!
